In my 30+ year career in the Alaska commercial fishing industry and global seafood business, I connected with my teams and industry colleagues as an encouraging coach and intentional servant leader. Servant leadership is humble, generous, empathetic, kind and fully present. As a woman in a male-dominated industry, I learned to lean into my unique strengths and personal values in order to achieve success and show up with confidence.

Mid-career, my sector of the industry faced a significant change in the fishing regulations; it was a 180-degree operational shift. I stepped up to lead the company through this transition with the help of a leadership coach, Jean Oplinger. Working with her was transformational. She inspired me to lead from my strengths, grounded in my values and helped me set goals that lead to financial growth and establish myself as a leader in the industry.

My seafood career gave me the opportunity to travel internationally and work with people from various cultural backgrounds. I learned that we have so much in common. We all want to be loved, heard, respected and treated fairly. We want family, a sense of belonging and life meaning. Our values influence so much of what we do and how we show up to meet those basic needs and feel successful.

Now, as I move forward into my coaching career, I bring the experiences, learning and wisdom gained in my first career. In 2025 I went “back to school” at SeattleCoach to ground myself in International Coaching Federation (ICF) practices and I became a founding coach with Values Identifier. I value relationships, experiences, trustworthiness, compassion, and generosity. My coaching practice is grounded in connecting authentically, meeting people where they’re at, and encouraging growth. We will establish a partnership focused on developing a plan and a strategy to tackle personal and career challenges based on your own unique set of values and strengths. It is my expectation and hope that, together, we will shine light in the darkness and find a way forward into change and growth.
